ABOUT THE ARTWORK
This artwork on cardboard was created for the 'Versiona Thyssen' competition at the Museo Thyssen. It is my reinterpretation of Simon Vouet’s painting ‘El rapto de Europa / The Rape of Europa, c. 1640’. After studying and analyzing the original, I reimagined it as a contemporary scene featuring two women sharing wine, with one bringing their dog along, as one might in the city. The vibrant colors contrast with the brown, imperfect cardboard background, making the piece stand out.
